Arsenal head of football Raul Sanllehi has flown back to London to thrash out transfers for two players.
The Gunners are currently on their pre-season tour of America but Sanllehi has returned early to the UK as the clock ticks down on the transfer window.
Arsenal are in the market for new recruits this summer but have a comparably small transfer budget compared to the rest of the big six.
Dani Ceballos has been identified as a realistic target as he is available on loan.
The Gunners parted company with Aaron Ramsey earlier in the summer and could do with bringing in Real Madrid star Ceballos for the season, with Sanllehi is working on.

Kieran Tierney is also on Arsenal's radar, and is the other player Sanllehi has flown back to thrash out negotiations for, as first reported by Mirror Football's John Cross.
The left-back will set the Gunners back £25million, but the club are looking at ways to pay less cash up front and the rest in bonuses and installments.
Stan Kroenke's son Josh recently told Arsenal fans to be optimistic where transfers are concerned.

"I would say be excited," Kroenke told Arsenal's official website.
"There are a few things that I know our group are working on, and a few things we hopefully have on the doorstep.
Kieran Tierney is also an Arsenal target
"Nothing is ever a done deal until it's a done deal, obviously, but we know we have key areas we want to address in our squad, both now and in the future.
"Our entire football operations staff have a great grasp on that and I've encouraged them to be as aggressive as possible."
