AFCON 2019: Rohr reveals why Super Eagles lost 2-0 to Madagascar

Head coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, has admitted that his team lost to Madagascar, because of complacency.

Nigeria were stunned 2-0 in their final Group B fixture at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations, a result that means they finished in second place.

“Madagascar were the better team but the first goal was a wonderful gift to them.

“We misplaced simple passes and were poor perhaps because subconsciously we already were thinking about the next round. We have to do better in our next game.

“It’s normal to change the team when one has already qualified. I wanted to rest the team and give others the opportunity to play. It is not a shame to lose against them because they were the first to qualify for the AFCON in October,” the German told a post-match press conference.

Mourning family discover their late lorry driver father had secretly hidden more than 20 classic motorcycles worth £20,000 around his house, garage and garden

A mourning family was shocked to discover their late father had a classic motorcycle collection hidden around his home.

The lorry driver's family had been going through his possessions when they discovered logbooks for motorcycles that led them to find the bikes, which is set to fetch £20,000 at auction.

The family discovered a variety of bikes including a BMW with Steib side-car, six 1950s Autocycles, and Velocette Le Vogue motorcycle at the home in Medway, Kent.

His daughter, who said she and the family wanted to remain anonymous in the run-up to an auction, said: 'It is very sad to see all these bikes and paraphernalia leave their hiding places and going off to be sold.

'Dad was a clever, honest and incredibly interesting man and you never knew what to expect. - he's still surprising us now!'

The enthusiast managed to buy, collect and store the machines without his family's knowledge.

His family admitted their father was 'a bit unusual' adding: 'Our dad was a little eccentric. An HGV driver by trade, a collector and craftsman at heart and a hoarder by nature - but an incredibly organised one!'

His daughter, who said she and the family wanted to remain anonymous in the run-up to an auction, said at her home in Medway, Kent: 'It is very sad to see all these bikes and paraphernalia leave their hiding places and going off to be sold.

She explained the discovery was first made when they began to go through his paperwork and found a file of logbooks for motorbikes.

'Growing up, we knew he'd had a passion for them and spent his 40's and 50's restoring a few and that there were a couple in the garage, wrapped under blankets but in this file we found 21 envelopes!'

'They were labelled with engine numbers, reg numbers and with V5C's inside along with the older V5's and each envelope contained the interesting additional paperwork for each bike.

After finding the logbooks, the late lorry driver's family began to search for the motorcycles. Five of the 21 bikes were found hidden under blankets in the garage

'We couldn't believe there could be 21 bikes at home as we just hadn't seen them and so the hunt began.'

They found 13 bikes in a garage, two in a garden shed and the cellar, another hidden under tarpaulin in the garden - all hidden for 30 years without anyone noticing.

The last five were found pushed against the wall behind blankets of wood and other garage detritus.

The daughter also recalled her father risking his life for to save the Velocette Le Vogue, described as his pride and joy, after a bonfire flame caught a light in the middle of the night.

The autocycle was cleaned up and appeared to be in good condition

'Dad fought the fire himself and dragged the burning tarps off the bike with his bare hands,' she said he sustained burns to his hands and his bike was unharmed.

Auctioneer Mark Bryan of H&H Classic Bike Department said: 'The restored bikes had been properly laid-up on blocks to protect their wheels/tyres, some engines/gearboxes drained, spark leads disconnected.

'Even the unrestored projects were all carefully wrapped up to protect them from any further degradation and preserve them in their original condition.'

The bikes will be sold on July 30 with H&H Classics at the National Motorcycle Museum.

Another black autocycle covered in dust was found amongst the hidden collection

It was also cleaned up to reveal that it appeared in good condition

WARNING: You might need to stop kissing, new killer bacteria disease in town

Kissers should suspend kissing for now as a deadly bacteria disease spread through kissing is killing people in England

Kissers should stop kissing right away, in their own interest!. A ‘very serious’ outbreak of a rare bacterial infection spread through kissing and touching has been reported in England.

It has already killed 12 persons in in Essex and it is spreading.

Metro.co.uk reported 32 reported cases of the disease, called invasive Group A streptococcus (iGAS), quoting the NHS Mid Essex Clinical Commissioning Group.

Experts said the bacteria can be found in the throat and on the skin – and people may carry it without displaying any symptoms.

It can live in throats and on hands for long enough to allow easy spread between people through sneezing, kissing and skin contact.

Public Health England called it a ‘local incident’, but warned it has a ‘high risk’ of causing further fatalities.

Reports said the outbreak started in Braintree and has since spread to the Chelmsford and Maldon areas, but a timeline has been given.

CNN out with new Dangote campaign

A new branded content campaign on CNN TV, digital and social media platforms is showing global audience some of the many ways that Dangote Industries is impacting people in African communities and industries.

The ‘Touching Lives’ campaign, which starts airing on TV this month, has been conceived and developed by CNN International Commercial’s branded content studio, Create, as part of the extended partnership between Dangote Industries and CNN, a statement indicated on Thursday.

It said the partnership which was announced last year  also included sponsorship within CNN Marketplace Africa and Dangote being the first African brand to be part of the Great Big Story.

The President, Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote,  was quoted to have said,  “Our investment in agriculture is anchored on two basic thrusts;  to key into Nigeria’s agriculture transformation agenda which make food’s self-sufficiency a clear priority;  to touch the lives of the people by providing their basic needs.

“Therefore, our venturing into rice cultivation just as we did in sugar is to achieve self-sufficiency and eliminate the $2bn spent annually on rice importation and thousands of job losses. Our social impact is further felt in the well-being of our various host communities through infrastructure development and provision of employment opportunities with our unprecedented life-changing projects

Katelyn Lunt, 6, the day her packages arrived at her home in Utah. (John Diyalou)

Katelyn Lunt, 6, helped her brother wash windows and organize the kitchen with an eye on a reward her mother had promised for the extra chores: a purple Barbie Dreamtopia Rainbow Cove Fairy Doll that she’d been coveting for months.

She watched her mother, Catherine, order the doll on the family computer in their home in Pleasant View, Utah. The next day, Katelyn asked if she could check the Amazon shipping status, so her mom called up the page, then walked out of the room.

Katelyn saw that her Barbie would be arriving the next afternoon, and then she noticed something else: suggestions about other Barbies and loads of swanky Barbie accessories for sale: the Barbie Dolphin Magic Transforming Mermaid Doll with a squirting dolphin, Barbie Dreamtopia elephant, Barbie Fashionistas wardrobe closet, plus plenty of add-ons.

Fifteen minutes and a few clicks later, with more than $350 worth of Barbie merchandise in her cart, Katelyn selected free two-day shipping, placed the order, then ran off to play.

The next day, while checking on another online order, Catherine Lunt noticed the monumental list of Barbies on the way. “There were three pages of orders!” Lunt said.

She was able to cancel two of them, but it was too late to cancel the rest. She told her daughter that as soon as the other Barbies arrived, they were going to be returned.

“She gave me a look that she always gives when she knows she’s in trouble,” Lunt said. “She knew what she was doing when she ordered those Barbies. And she knew that it was wrong.”

On Aug. 11, a Saturday, Katelyn returned home from a walk with her parents, two siblings, Sarah, 15, and Ryan, 9, and several relatives who were visiting from Arizona. They arrived just in time to see a deliveryman unloading a large stack of brown boxes at the curb.

“What’s all this?” asked Katelyn’s father, Mike, 48, a building contractor and home remodeler.

His wife filled in the family, and they had a big laugh at Katelyn’s mischief. Katelyn’s uncle, John Diyalou, snapped several pics of her posing with the boxes and the delivery guy. Unbeknown to everyone, Katelyn’s cousin, Ria Diyalou, 23, then posted one of the photos on Twitter with the comment: “My bad— little cousin ordered $300 worth of toys w/out my aunt & uncle knowing. This is a picture of how everyone found out.”

The picture quickly went viral, with nearly 80,000 likes.

“We started hearing from complete strangers who asked, ‘Aren’t you mad? I’d be livid,’ ” Catherine said. “Although Katelyn knew what she was doing, she had no comprehension about what she’d spent. I mean, come on. She just started the first grade. I’d have to say this is really my fault, for not paying close attention.”

Katelyn wanted to open all of the packages she’d ordered, but her parents said no. Instead of sending back the dolls, her father said, what if they give them to Primary Children’s Hospital so other kids could enjoy them?

The Lunts had good reason for wanting to donate to the hospital in Salt Lake City, 45 miles away. A few days after Katelyn was born in August 2012, she suffered a stroke and a seizure. For one week, her parents worried and waited in the newborn intensive-care unit while Katelyn underwent dozens of tests.

“It was scary — she’d lost 5 percent of her brain mass,” Catherine said. “But doctors told us that it would eventually be regenerated. They put her on medication for a while and decided that she would be fine. And she was.”

Mike said he is profoundly grateful to the hospital and has been thinking for several years about how the Lunts could give back in some way.

“Having Katelyn take the Barbies to the hospital seemed like the perfect way to do that,” he said.

So on Aug. 15, the Lunts loaded up the car (Katelyn was allowed to keep the Rainbow Barbie that she’d been promised for doing extra chores) and hauled the toys from their daughter’s spending spree to a playroom at Primary Children’s.

“Katelyn was a little depressed at first that we were giving them all away,” Mike said. “But then she sat with a bunch of little girls who are patients, and they opened all of the boxes together and laughed and played. She had a lot of fun but also learned a really good lesson.”

Hospital employees chuckled with the Lunts about Katelyn’s unauthorized spending spree and were grateful for the donations.

“We were tickled that Katelyn and her family came with so many boxes of toys for our patients,” said hospital chief executive Katy Welkie. “We depend on gifts from the community — be they Barbie dolls, Play-Doh or financial assistance — to help our patients find joy and hope in their journey.”

Katelyn said she hopes to return to the hospital now and then, with some of the favorite Barbies from her 20-doll collection, for more playtime.

“I’m glad that we took them up there,” Katelyn said. “I’ll bet that everyone likes the one that lights up the best. She’s my favorite.”

So, would she be tempted again to fill up an online shopping cart on her own?

“No,” she said firmly. “My mom said there will be a big consequence if it happens again.”

Jaden Smith descends from the heavens to explain some of his most baffling tweets

Photo: Pascal Le Segretain (Getty Images)

Jaden Smith, the young actor, musician, artist, and starchild of the endless cosmos, is known for tweeting fascinatingly bizarre nonsense. Somehow, even amidst the oceans of indiscernible garbage and bot-ridden missives barfed onto Twitter each day, Smith stands out. He is king of Mystery Mountain, figuratively walking around in a handstand while wearing pants on his torso, a shirt on his legs, and telling confused onlookers that only he has seen the truth behind all things.

At long last, after years of cowardly journalists failing to do so, Huffington Post’s Bill Bradley managed to convince Smith to explain what, exactly, he’s trying to say through his years of online philosophizing

Let’s start with a notable career highlight:

According to Smith’s interview response, this brutal critique of both mirrors and eyes actually makes perfect sense.

“This one comes from a study that a scientist was saying, that the way that the eyes perceive reality is not the way we actually see it,” he said. “So, like, we can only see three base colors, but there’s so much more on the electromagnetic spectrum of light that we could see, but our eyes are just not capable of seeing, which brought me to the realization that what we see on an everyday basis is not actually what’s there. It’s actually only what we can take in.”

“And I also took in another study,” he continued, “that ... our eyes are kind of like mirrors in a sense to where they perceive things and then they flip. We take in the information upside down and then the brain flips it right side up so that we can see it right side up ... and I was like, if we take in the raw visual information upside down and mirrors portray things in reverse, then they’re not real. We’re living in the Matrix.”

Well, there it is. Perfectly clear now. While we’re sure the above response satisfies every possible question, not every tweet received even the most opaque explanation.

Consider the following:

Smith admits, “I really don’t know where my head was at with that one,” but does say that it’s a good bunch of letters because the words end up feeling “like an abstract painting.” If you’re picturing question marks floating through your head still, don’t worry: that’s definitely intentional, too. Smith continued by saying, “The visuals that get created in your mind when you say that sentence, I created those visuals in your mind.”

Don’t give up now. One last selection will yank your third eye right open. First, ponder the following:

Even this, a personal favorite from Smith’s oeuvre, was apparently typed and sent with clear intent. It is a guided missile zooming toward the heart of logic.

“That’s true! That’s true!” he said. “Because I’m not gonna be categorized as a human. Oh, humans are supposed to do this or act like this or people are supposed to act like this or people are supposed to be this. I’m my own thing. Don’t judge me off some standards that were made up before I was born. I’m doing my own thing.”

The rest of the article contains similarly reasonable readings of memorable Smith tweets, though unfortunately, it fails to address several other beguiling hits from the past few years. No one piece can be comprehensive enough for that, of course. Instead, we’ll have to settle with what we’ve got: a reminder of how valuable a formal, entirely Hubbard-free education can be to a wide-ranging, thoughtful mind.

Why People Are Mad At Kim Kardashian For Her New Shapewear Collection

'It's outright culturally offensive'

Bertrand Rindoff PetroffGetty Images

It's not surprising that spanx aficionado and businesswoman across many platformsKim Kardashian West decided to release her own shapewear range.

However, the name of her latest collection has been met with both bewilderment and resistance.

The reality star previewed the new 'Kimono' collection on Wednesday, presenting a mix of sculpting briefs, shorts, bras and bodies in a range of nude shades that Kardashian explained she has been working on for the past year.

While the actual shapewear received some praise on social media, many people took umbrage with the name of the collection.

A kimono is a traditional Japanese garment, worn by both women and men, dating back to the 16th century. It is characterised by being shoulder-covering, having long sleeves, traditionally made with silk (which can be very expensive) and tied with a sash. Nowadays, it's mostly worn in Japan on special occasions such as family events.

Immediately, people from Japan and of Japanese heritage questioned why Kardashian would give her products a name that bears no resemblance to what a kimono actually is, and consequently ignores its cultural significance.

Others vented their frustrations through the #KimOhNo hashtag and pleaded with the businesswoman to reconsider the name of her new venture.

Even the Victoria & Albert Museum got involved and attempted to educate Kardashian West and others on the history and culture of the kimono:

It has also been reported that Kardashian West attempted to trademark Kimono for her business venture.

ELLE UK has approached a representative for Kardashian West for comment.

Three players Man United could target to replace Romelu Lukaku

Lukaku’s time in Manchester

Romelu Lukaku joined Manchester United in the summer of 2017, moving from Everton for a fee reported to be around £75m.

Lukaku was a rather prolific goalscorer for the Toffees. In his final season on Merseyside, the Belgian netted a staggering 25 goals and assisted six in 36 league outings.

However, since his big-money move to Old Trafford, Lukaku has struggled to regain that exceptional form.

The 26-year-old’s debut season in Manchester saw him score 16 and assist seven in 34 league appearances.

Considering United are generally seen as a better side than Everton, you would have expected Lukaku’s goal count to rise in the league, not decline.

Lukaku had similar struggles throughout this past season.

In 42 games across all competitions, the Anderlecht youth product scored just 15 and assisted four.

Lukaku to Inter Milan?

After two seasons with the Red Devils though, Lukaku could well be on his way to Italy.

Back in April of this year, Lukaku expressed a desire to play in the Serie A.

Although, at the time, Lukaku did state that he was focused on United:

“Playing in Serie A is a dream, it would be really a dream.

“I hope to be able to play sooner or later, even if at the moment I am focused on the United.”As quoted by Sky Sports News.

However, since that interview, Lukaku has been pretty heavily linked with a move to Inter Milan.

Then, earlier this week, Lukaku’s agent would confirm that Inter are indeed trying to sign his client:

“Lukaku is a dream and is not easy to realize it… but yes, Inter are trying to get him. Romelu has expressed his wishes (to leave Man United)”

While Inter may struggle to afford the Belgian who United reportedly want £75mfor, there is still a chance Lukaku could depart United this summer.

That would leave just Marcus Rashford as a senior out and out striker at Man United.

So, United will probably need to purchase a replacement centre-forward, here are three potential options.

Ben Yedder

The first player Man United could bring in this summer is Sevilla forward, Wissam Ben Yedder.

Ben Yedder has already been tipped as a replacement for Lukaku in recent days.

The Manchester Evening News citing France Football claimed that Ben Yedder has a €40m release clause and United would be willing to match it, should Lukaku leave.

€40m does seem like somewhat of a bargain in today’s market given the season Ben Yedder has just had.

In the 28-year-old’s 2018/19 campaign, he would play 54 games across all competitions for Sevilla. In those 54 games, Ben Yedder scored an impressive 30 goals and also chipped in with 11 assists.

Moreover, as Sevilla finished 6th in La Liga last season, they do not have the lure of Champions League football, which is good for United who will be playing in the Europa League in the forthcoming campaign.

Sebastien Haller

The next player Man United could target is Eintracht Frankfurt forward, Sebastien Haller.

At 6ft 2 Haller is a much more like for like signing to replace Lukaku, unlike Ben Yedder who is just 5ft 5.

Haller has spent two years in Germany honing his craft after completing his move from Dutch side, FC Utrecht.

The 25-year-old had a decent debut campaign for Frankfurt that saw him net 13 and assist seven in 36 ties.

Haller then improved his goalscoring form in the 2018/19 season. He would score 20 and assist 12 in 41 outings across all competitions.

Haller’s Bundesliga record was particularly impressive with the forward bagging 15 goals and nine assists in 29 fixtures.

However, with Frankfurt already losing one of their top strikers, Luka Jovic, to Real Madrid this summer, they may be opposed to letting go of another key forward.

Mauro Icardi

The final player Manchester United could target to replace Romelu Lukaku is Mauro Icardi.

Should Lukaku move to Inter, the club may be keen to cash in on Icardi.

It has also been reported by reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano that Eden Dzeko is close to signing for Inter.

Should Antonio Conte’s side land both Lukaku and Dzeko, they would have three first-team strikers, including Icardi.

So, Man United may well be able to work Icardi into any potential deal for Lukaku.

Reports have already emerged that Inter Milan would be willing to offer Icardi plus cash for the Belgian.

Icardi made 36 appearances last season for Inter, scoring 17 and assisting five in that time.

Judge orders doctors to give Jehovah's Witness girl blood transfusion against her parents' wishes

Judge orders doctors to give Jehovah's Witness girl blood transfusion against her parents' wishes

Five-year-old could die or suffer a stroke if not treated urgently, says hospital

The girl is being treated at Leeds Children's Hospital ( Google )

A High Court judge has ruled a five year-old girl from a family of Jehovah’s Witnesses can be given a blood transfusion against her parents’ wishes.

Mr Justice Hayden made the decision after hospital bosses said the child could die or suffer a stroke if she was not treated urgently.

The girl’s parents said their religious beliefs would not allow them to consent to a transfusion, but did not object to the judge making the order.

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, which has responsibility for the girl’s care, made the application in the Family Division of the High Court in London on Wednesday.

A specialist told Mr Justice Hayden the child was suffering from sickle cell disease, an inherited blood disorder, and her condition had deteriorated. He said he feared a “life-threatening event” if the girl was not given a blood transfusion soon.

The girl’s father broke down as he told the judge that he wanted his daughter to live but could not agree to a transfusion.

After analysing evidence at a public hearing, Mr Justice Hayden said the law allowed judges to make such rulings.

The girl, who can not be identified, is being treated at Leeds Children’s Hospital.

Jehovah’s Witnesses say the Old and New Testaments of the Bible “clearly command us to abstain from blood”.

“God views blood as representing life,” the religion’s website says. “So we avoid taking blood not only in obedience to God but also out of respect for him as the Giver of life.”

Earlier, at a separate hearing in the Family Division of the High Court in London, another judge approved an agreement between hospital bosses and a teenage Jehovah’s Witness who refused to be treated with blood products or given a blood transfusion.

Mr Justice Moor had been due to oversee a trial after hospital bosses asked him to decide what would be in the boy’s best interests.

But he was told doctors had taken the view that the boy should not be treated with blood products against his wishes and were trying a different approach.

The court heard the teenager was born abroad and had lived in England with a relative for some time. His father is dead and his mother’s whereabouts are unknown.

Mr Justice Moor, who approved the agreement at a private hearing, said neither the boy nor the NHS hospital trust involved could be identified in media reports.

That case echoes the plot of Ian McEwan’s 2014 novel The Children Act, which was made into a film starring Emma Thompson.

In the novel, a judge decides a 17-year-old Jehovah’s Witness should have a blood transfusion against his wishes, to save his life.

She said right now she could wear all his clothes and never give them back and vice versa that was Adekunle didn’t want to get married.

Simi wrote: “only reason I got married was so I could wear all his clothes and never give them back. that’s the only reason why he didn’t want to get married. so love is compromise. compromise is her having her way.

Hazard always idolized Zidane, while the Frenchman was always in awe of the Belgium international and now, they will be working together as it was inevitable since quite a few months.

Mane silenced as Senegal fall to Mahrez’s Algeria at AFCON 2019

Senegal star, Sadio Mane, made his first appearance at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations but it was not enough to inspire the Teranga Lions as Riyad Mahrez’s Algeria in a much anticipated Group C clash played on Thursday evening at the June 30 Stadium in Cairo.

Mane troubled the Algeria defence down the left flank in the first half as Senegal edged proceedings early on, but the Desert Foxes held firm and relied on counter-attacks to threaten the Teranga Lions, though, the half ended goalless.

Tom Welling Would Play Batman in the Arrowverse

Tom Welling reveals he would be open to playing a version of Batman in the Arrowverse. Created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger, the character first debuted all the way back in 1939. Since then, he's been adapted for screens both big and small by a myriad of actors. The translations have ranged from knowingly campy to extremely gritty. On the big screen, he was most recently played by Ben Affleck. It was announced, however, that the character would be returned to his younger years and Robert Pattinson would take over as Batman. On the small screen, Bruce Wayne's formative years were explored by David Mazouz on Gotham.

A TRUE LIFE STORY By Pastor E.A Adeboye

When I was a little kid, my elder (half-brother) traveled to the nearest town to us and when he was returning, he came back with a face cap. Very colourful and beautiful beyond measure to we, the little ones. We've never seen anything like that before. So, we all gathered round him admiring the face cap. .

Then, he did something very funny. He took off the face cap and placed it on my head. ‘oh! he allowed me to wear this beautiful thing?’ All the other children were amazed to put it lightly, and were very envious of me.

Thereafter, he said something unbelievable. He said to me, ‘I bought it for you'. To say the truth, I nearly fainted with joy. That scenario happened around 1950. Several years passed until maybe about 7 or so years, and one night, I couldn’t sleep, and for one reason or the other, my mind went back to the day because I was trying to go over my life, thinking of days of joy and my mind went back to that day.

A question came to my mind, ‘what have you done for that man?’. As a result, I made up my mind what I will do. So, one day, he was sitting at home in our village. He was a poor farmer who hasn’t even got money to buy a bicycle. My driver and another fellow drove a car into the front of the house. Now, whenever they hear the sound of a car in front of our house, they assume I have come. So, he came out with the others and exclaimed, ‘haha! Where is Daddy G.O.?’
‘oh! He is not here' ‘OK. Why are you here?’

‘Daddy G.O. said we should tell you that this car is yours, this man will be your driver. He said he will pay for the driver, he will fuel the car, and he will maintain the car.’

The man replied, ‘what are you saying?’

My driver answered, ‘that’s the message’

They later reported back to me that when they told him, he was looking for a chair to sit on because he felt dizzy.

THAT WAS EXACTLY HOW I FELT IN 1950.

I want you to stand on your feet, lift your voice to the Almighty God, loud and clear, and say, ‘father! Remember me today.’
Go ahead, talk to the Almighty God.

DC's New MARTHA Twist is Wilder Than Batman v Superman

Batman Knightmare Costume in Comics

Nobody expected the "Martha" moment in Batman v Superman, delivering what is likely to remain the most iconic moment in Martha Wayne's story. But believe it or not, the Batman comics have just dropped a "Martha" twist of their own... which puts the shock value of the movie to shame.

On one hand, it's a refreshing change of pace to see Bruce Wayne's mother become such a central figure to his adult life. Something he shares with Superman in BvS, but in comics, it's been Thomas Wayne who casts the largest shadow in recent storylines. Nowhere is that truer than in DC's Flashpoint timeline, where it was Bruce shot to death, transforming his father into Batman. But now that Thomas has jumped from his alternate reality into DC's universe, he's bringing a jaw-dropping "Martha" twist along him.

In case fans have missed a chapter or two of Thomas Wayne's story, it was recently revealed that the Flashpoint timeline never stopped existing. That allowed The Flash to give Bruce and Thomas a father-son reunion, but they parted with Thomas telling his son to give up the cape and cowl. Bruce elected not to, and... things have gone downhill since. His wedding to Catwoman was ruined. He lost Gotham to Bane. And while Thomas was revealed to be helping the villain tear Bruce down to nothing, Batman #73 begins in the last place fans would expect.

Batman Comic Thomas Wayne in Desert

The appearance of Thomas Wayne certainly shows that Affleck's Batman design is alive and well in comics, and the desert setting is also going to conjure up BvS memories. But this is no fantasy or knightmare--Thomas has Bruce on the back of a horse, in the middle of the desert, dragging a coffin behind them as they go. Since Thomas seemed to be loyal to Bane, the first suggestion is the most dire for Bruce: that his father has brought him out into the sands to finish the job. Either that, or dig a grave for himself. But from his first panel, Thomas Wayne, the Flashpoint Batman seems more determined than ever. Yet as Bruce stirs, Thomas doesn't seem desperate, just... content.
